sending Christmas cards is one of my favorite things to do. i think about it all year and then start making it in october. i try to create something unique and different than the previous year. (remember last year’s card?) i just think there’s something special about sending a little gift of love to 100+ family and friends, and the joy they might feel when they receive it in the mail. i’m really happy with how this year’s turned out!

***you can see all our Christmas cards on our family blog.

i dread halloween every year — the pressure to have a brilliant idea, the planning of the costume(s), spending money on something you may never wear again…but i hate to be a party pooper!

we work at the same company so we thought it would be fun to do a combined pregnancy-themed costume. and we were able to scrounge up costumes from stuff we mostly had on hand. i paid $2.13 for the jug of sunny d and eric spent $8 on his shirt and paint. what do you think?

remember last year’s costume?

i told eric the other day that if i could change the world via men’s fashion, i would rip up all those dingy white undershirts that guys always wear. haha! i’m happy to say that for at least a year, eric has worn either no undershirt (woohoo!) or a v-neck in a coordinating color to his button-up (typically gray). he’s like a new man. he’s been rockin’ this new haircut lately. and he’s finally ok with wearing straight jeans! and cuffing them! although his cubicle-mate at work did ask him if he was wearing girl jeans…

» you can’t really tell from these photos, but my shirt has little safety pins printed on it. cute, right? it’s short in the front and longer in the back, with buttons up the back. i’m open to any styling ideas you have!

these are the high-waisted shorts i got on our vacation in charleston. they’re the only souvenir i came home with and i’ve been wearing them like crazy. i love that they’ll always remind me of that trip. i wish they didn’t wrinkle so much or shrink when i dried them, but they are still so comfortable and fit me really well. i think the last time i bought a pair of shorts was at least five years ago. because i’m pear-shaped, low-waisted short shorts are about the worst thing i could ever wear, but for many years that was all i could find. needless to say, i’m in love with these babies.

also, i’m pretty sure i’m married to the most stylish guy in des moines. just sayin’.

eric and i are vacationing in south carolina this week, and i’m so happy that my favorite couple is filling in for us today! meet kendi, the brains behind the 30 for 30 remix, and her husband, bryan, who is an amazing photographer. (are you in love with them yet?)

You may be thinking “hey! that outfit looks familiar…” well you are right. I’ve worn this outfit before over on that blog of mine. But what you haven’t seen is this guy, the man behind the camera. Because I’m selfish, I don’t feature B a whole lot on my blog but he is one stylish fellow. I mean just look at this kid. (And this was Tuesday.)

Exhibit A, B, and C:

(Okay ignore the clutch. That’s mine.)

Although B has always had a sense of style, I know that it doesn’t always come easy for some men. So I’ve created a few tips to help you and your male friend out. If you would like your boyfriend/brother/husband/dad (hopefully that’s not all one relationship…) to be more stylish, here are three ways to get him there:

  1. Cut up everything in his closet that you hate, especially items he’s kept from college. Burning is also an option. (If you choose to donate, make sure he doesn’t follow you to the thrift store. I’m serious, watch your back.)
  2. Always take him shopping on an empty stomach with promises of a large dinner, namely steak. In his hunger, confusion lies, then you can style him just like you did your Ken dolls so many years ago. (Memories!)
  3. Sign him up for J.Crew emails. He will think it’s a sign and his subconscious will unknowingly become stylish.

Or you could just buy him a shirt every once in a while and tell him he’s a handsome son of a gun. Compliments never hurt a soul, or a husband, boyfriend, brother or dad.

As always, you can find me over at Kendi Everyday and B at Photographers Skeen. For the record, Bryan dressed himself today.
